While the iconic two-stroke engine of the original RX 100 is no longer viable due to strict emission norms, Yamaha has swapped it with an all-new 100cc air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke motor. This new engine produces around 9.2 bhp and 8.7 Nm of torque—slightly less than the original—but promises a broader mid-range punch that’s more suited to today’s riding conditions.
Importantly, Yamaha’s engineers have paid close attention to the exhaust note—a key part of the Yamaha RX 100 experience—to ensure it still has that distinctive sound that fans love.
